Sport Disciplines

Getting to know one another and socialize with new contacts as well as building new relationships between the participants will be especially encouraged within the LINC framework. The best opportunity to do so is during the sport competitions in which the LAG-Teams can take part. These four kinds of sports offered are typical disciplines for the Hohe Salve Area.

• Giant Slalom
• Ice-Stock-Shooting
• Snow Shoe Race
• "Stielbob" (Mini-bob sledge)

Every LAG-Team consists of three people and every participant can only take part in one of the three selected disciplines. That means: every team contests in only 3 of the 4 disciplines. There will be an award ceremony with team and individual judging at the end of the sport events. However, it is not about maximum sport performance, but about reaching something together as a team and to playfully compete with other LEADER colleagues. Everything runs on a friendship basis, excessive ambition is in the wrong place here.

If possible there should be at least one woman in every team!

Snow-Shoe Race

Snow shoes ease movement in the snow and were also commonly used in the past in many rural, snow-rich areas. The advantage of snow shoes is the larger surface area, which better distributes a persons´ weight and thus minimises sinking into the snow. In order to snow shoe one does not need previous knowledge nor a specific technique, if you can run you can also snow shoe.

Ice-Stock Shooting

Ice stock shooting is a sport with long tradition and is mainly found in the rural Alpine areas. This sport takes place with a sliding ice stock on ice or other surfaces, such as tarmac or a synthetic material. Ice stock sport is an old folk sport and historically seen as a tradition.

"Stielbob"

The "Stielbob" is a sport sledge with “style” for everyone. Because of its simple structure it is easy for beginners and the inexperienced to control and this is exactly what makes it so much fun.
